This particular sample is a short story from a larger collection currently being put together for publication. This is the third draft of the story, still with plenty of corrections, and should give you a good idea of just how important the editing process is for every step of the writing craft. The final version of the story first appeared in MAGNET Magazine one year ago, and is an excellent example of how a work-in-progress can quickly turn into a published piece.
