To date, I have written three books and I have sold two. Why not three, you ask? Check again in six months! During my career as a writer of both fiction and non-fiction, the hardest part about selling a book has been convincing a particular editor or agent to actually read my manuscript! Agents and editors today are inundated with submissions, sometimes more than a thousand a month.

 

You need to stand out, and in order to stand out, you need to write a convincing query letter. You need to convince agents and editors to read your manuscript. And then you need to send your query letter to agents and editors who are interested in reading your particular genre! You need to query agents and editors who are actually looking for new writers.

 

How can I help you? First, I go through your query letter and make it as convincing and exciting as possible. After spending so much time in this industry and working as an editor of my own magazine, I know what sells and what doesn’t. I play to the strengths of each individual writer.

 

Once the query letter is as good as it can be, I send it out to agents and editors who are currently seeking new writers. I send out your query letter for you and I make sure to only send it out to agents and editors who might be interested in reading your specific manuscript.

 

Every list is unique for each writer I work with. How do I keep my lists up-to-date? I subscribe to more than a dozen writing magazines and newsletters, combing the classified sections and advertisements for agents and publishers who are looking for writers to represent.

 

I guarantee responses. I don’t stop querying your manuscript until you get responses, and typically the average is anywhere between 20 and 40 for a writer with a sellable manuscript. From there, it’s up to you to let your writing do the talking. My goal is to get your foot in the door, and it’s your job to close the deal with a great manuscript.

 

Writing is not an easy business, which is why I try to help. But I don’t help everyone. If I don’t feel I can help you sell your manuscript, I will not work with you. If I feel, based on your query letter, that my services can’t help you, then I will not work with you. Just like with my editing services, I focus on helping good writers achieve their dream.
